Ronbo, guy, Commander Charlie, cat, donkey are a few names that come to mind when we talk about this edition of “meet the crew”. Most of you may already know who I am talking about but for those who do not it is Ron Coleman. Ron is an Operational Supervisor for R/WV EMSA (210-C3.) He has been part of the organization and a leader of the mustache contingent since 2000 when he was hired as a Supervisor. His secondary duties are
-Medical supply ordering
-HIPPA
-Customer Service
-Statistical Data Management
- Corporate Compliance
-Ambulance Specification Committee
-Infection Control
-Safety committee
Ron has lead a long windy path in emergency services since he was a junior firefighter at Dickerson run liberty & Vanderbilt fire department(DL&V) at 17 years old. At 18 years old he started into EMS at Tri-Town EMS before it became known as Fayette EMS. Ron then went to McCandless Franklin Park EMS in 1990 and worked as a medic for 7 years and supervisor for 3. In 1991 at the ripe young age of 23 years old Ron became one of the youngest instructors ever to be employed by the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy. He took a leave of absence from MCFP EMS in 1993 to pursue a career as a firefighter in the city of Georgetown SC. He enjoyed his stent as a firefighter but was drawn back to the area with his family after a few short months and returned to MCFP EMS.
In 2000 Ron was offered a position as a Supervisor at R/WV EMSA. He took the position and has been working for the organization since. After being hired he moved his family into their current home in West view Borough. Ron has 2 children, Dillon who is 14 and Katelyn who is 11. Outside of work and the fire department Ron’s kids are his life. When Ron is not compulsively washing his truck or with his kids you may find him volunteering as a firefighter for Berkeley Hills Station 247 or West Lanham Hills station 28 in Prince Georges County Maryland. Ron is an extremely talented EMS provider, rescue technician, and incident commander. Those qualities put him at the front of the line to be made a Squad Boss on the PA USAR Strike Team 1.
As you can see, Ron has quite a vast array of training and is very good at what he does. His leadership skills, calm charismatic voice, and ability to think things through make him an excellent fit in his role as a supervisor at Ross/ West View.
