Jenifer A. Swab, Ph.D., is the Training Coordinator at Ross/West View EMS in Western Pennsylvania. She has over 40 years of experience in public safety as a Paramedic, rescue technician, dispatcher, and firefighter. Jen is responsible for the certification and education compliance of our staff and volunteers. She provides many educational programs to the public that include CPR, First Aid, Babysitting Classes, and What To Do In Case of an Emergency. She provides education to students and staff within two large school districts within our service area.
Jen is a member of several public safety professional organizations including the Pittsburgh Critical Incident Stress Management Team where she sits on their Board of Directors. She participates in the Western Pennsylvania EMS Honor Guard and is a member of the Allegheny County Hazardous Materials Medical Response Team.
Some of Jen’s most recent accomplishments include training hundreds of police officers, firefighters, and school teachers on how to recognize an opiate overdose and administer naloxone. She has also taught countless people how to stop bleeding through tourniquet application and wound packing in the Stop the Bleed initiative that is sweeping the nation. Jen has received multiple awards including a Pennsylvania Senate proclamation for her years of service in EMS and public safety education. Jen’s research and dissertation topic were focused on the well-being and stress management of EMS providers. Jen resides in the North Hills of Pittsburgh with her husband. They are the proud parents of a 22-year-old son and 18-year-old quadruplets consisting of three girls and a boy.
